Affiliated Media, parent of Daily News owner MediaNews, to file for bankruptcy protection

The company said Friday that it would file a reorganization plan already approved by lenders in a bid to emerge from bankruptcy more quickly. Among MediaNews' California publications are the Daily News in Los Angeles, the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the Daily Breeze in Torrance and the Pasadena Star-News.
